I laminated western red cedar, cypress and redwood to form the blank.

After laminating the blank, I marked the shape of the blades onto the blank using a template of the paddle I made using the plans.

The shape was roughed out on a bandsaw.

A plane was used to taper the blade.

A spokeshave shaped the ridge along the power face of the blade.  Masking tape defined the edge of the ridge.

A gouge formed the recess along the ridge on the power face of the paddle.

A drawknife quickly tapered the edges of the blades.
