Bead Cutting Lathe Tool

To get an idea of the shape of the bead I wanted to turn, I sketched the spindle full size.  I originally planned to use an old file, but I had an old spade bit handy.  I used a grinder to remove the bulk of the waste being careful not to overheat the bit.  After I roughed in the shape with the grinder, I used a mill file and a round chainsaw file to make the bead.

I turned a handle out of white oak.  I drilled the hole for the bit shank on my drill press.
