Deck Rigging and Seat Construction
Side view of deck lines.
I drilled holes through the deck for the perimeter lines
and bungie cord.  The holes were coated with epoxy prior
to threading the perimeter lines and bungie cord through
the holes.  The fit is tight so little water should leak
through the holes.
After rough cutting the bottom of the foam to match the
contour of the kayak with the saw, a side grinder was
used to further shape the foam.  The grinder was used to
shape the sitting area.  I hand sanded this area after
grinding.
3" minicell foam was used for the seat.  The Ryoba saw
easily cut the foam.
A backrest was also cut from foam.  I covered the seat
and backrest with lycra.  The lycra was attached with 3M
spray adhesive.  After testing, I'll permanently attach the
seat and backrest with contact cement or use velcro as a
non-permanent attachment.
