Stripping the Deck, Part 1
After completion of the hull, the forms were unscrewed from the strong back and the hull was placed on cradles.
Shear strip added Cradles supporting the hull
After adding the final strip along the shear of the hull, the
hull was removed from the strongback and placed in
cradles.
The cradles were screwed to the strong back uprights.
Filling in the center strips
First strips on deck
It's hard to see in the photo, but I've added thin strips of
Spanish cedar and western red cedar along the shear
strips.  I will fill in the open area with Spanish cedar
strips that run the length of the deck.
Blue masking tape was added along the shear to
prevent the deck and hull from being glued together.
Strips of western red cedar have been added to the deck.
Clamps were needed near the cockpit First full length strip
The strips continue onto the rear of the deck.  Clamps
were needed to hold the strips in place until the glue
dried.
Spring clamps came in handy on the first full length strip.
Note the clamping blocks added to the forms.
Heat gun Side view of first full length strip
A heat gun helped the strip make the bend from the front
of the cockpit to the rear of the cockpit.
This side view shows the amount of bend from the front
of the cockpit area to the rear of the cockpit.
