Outer Island kayak, Aug 22-23
Spray addhesive was used to attach the plans to fiber board.  After cutting out the stations on a bandsaw, they
were mounted to the strong back.
strong back with vertical supports mounted leveling form 9
After using chalk line to mark a straight line down center
of strong back, vertical supports for the forms are
attached at each form location.  The plans call for an
additional station between station 10 and 11.
Starting with form 9, a level is used to level station 9 with
the strong back chalk line.  Once level, the form is
attached to the vertical supports with screws.
measuring rocker/height of form
string line used to set forms
A ruler is used to measure the rocker/height of each form
relative to the string line.
A string line that just touches form 9 is run the length of
the strong back.  The string line is used to set the
rocker/height of the forms.
attaching form 2 to bow
mounted forms
After form 2 and 16 are mounted, they are removed and
the bow and stern is screwed to the form.  Note in the
picture that the bow (and stern) has part of the form
removed and reattached.  After tapering the internal stem
piece, it is stapled back to the form.  Tape has been
added to the joint so that the internal stem piece is not
glued to the form.
This shows the forms mounted to the strong back.
reattaching form 2
Form 2 is reattached to the vertical support.
