Aug. 17-18 I milled the strips and built the strong back.
table saw setup for milling strips router table setup
08/17/02 started milling strips.  I used a Freud Diablo
7 1/4" blade with an approx. 1/16-3/32" kerf.
I used the Lee Valley Tools canoe router bits to mill the bead
and cove.

planer setup
I milled strips to various widths so as to minimize waste.
The cypress strips are about 3/4" wide, the western red
cedar 3/8" and 3/4" wide and the Spanish cedar for the deck
about 7/8" wide.
Prior to milling the bead and cove, I ran the strips
through the planer to get strips of a consistent
thickness.
strong back
The strong back was made from 5/8" MDF.
