Bilge Pump Installation
I installed a Bosworth Guzzler 500 foot actuated bilge pump.  I special ordered the pump with a light action
spring.
Before the pump can be installed, the location of the
forward bulkhead must be determined.  A cardboard
template was fit to the interior of the kayak.  The template
was used to trace the pattern of the bulkhead onto 1/4"
plywood.  A stationary belt sander fine tuned the fit.  After
shaping, the bulkhead was covered with 6oz. fiberglass
cloth.
The bulkhead was temporarily wedged in place with the
pump mounted so that I could test the placement of the
pump.  Satisfied with the placement, I marked the
location of the discharge hole.

I was happy to see that the discharge pipe aligned with
the hole.  A black plastic lawn irrigation fitting was
epoxied into the hole and trimmed to the curvature of the
kayak.
